Heather Fehn has served in leadership positions in the Office of the President at The College of New Jersey since 1996. She currently serves as vice president, chief of staff, and secretary to the board of trustees. Throughout her tenure, she has supported four presidents, 11 board chairs, and more than 40 trustees. She has played a pivotal role in facilitating 25 presidential and executive-level searches, demonstrating her commitment to institutional leadership and governance.

An active member of the Association of Governing Boards’ (AGB) Board Professionals Leadership Group (BPLG) since 2002, Heather was elected Chair of the group for 2010–2011. She chaired the Programs Committee in 2009, overseeing the coordination of AGB’s national conference, and has remained a consistent contributor to the group. Heather has also served on the Professional Development Committee and was part of the team that developed AGB’s inaugural Board Professionals Certificate Program.

In addition to her work with AGB, Heather has been a member of the National Association of Presidential Assistants in Higher Education (NAPAHE) Board of Directors since 2012. She served as Chair of the Board from 2016–2017 and has led several committees, including the 2015 National Conference Committee, the Content Committee (2011–2014), and the Sponsorship Committee (2017–2019; 2022–2025). Heather was recently elected to a third term on the NAPAHE Board of Directors.

Heather is a sought-after presenter and facilitator, regularly leading webinars and sessions at AGB, NAPAHE, and other national conferences. Her presentations focus on enhancing professional effectiveness and addressing key institutional and board governance topics, such as technology integration, trustee management, board committee structures, and executive-level search processes.

Beyond her professional roles, Heather is deeply committed to community service. She was elected to the board of the Har Sinai Congregation in Pennington, New Jersey, in 2010 and served as the congregation’s president from 2013–2016. Currently, she serves as Vice Chair of the Woods System of Care Board of Trustees, where she has been a member since 2012. Heather also served as Chair of the Board of Allies Inc. from 2017–2024, having been a board member during that time. Both organizations, based in Langhorne, PA, and Hamilton, NJ, respectively, provide vital support and services to children and adults with special needs and intellectual disabilities.
